Welcome Gerben!

We have great news regarding new talent! We have a new colleague. Last month Gerben started at Orchard Finance as a Consultant. We would like to introduce Gerben to you!

Who are you and what is your background?

My name is Gerben Wiersema and I have been living in Amsterdam since 2018. I studied in Groningen, resulting in a bachelor's degree in International Business and a master's degree in Business Administration with specializations in Strategic Innovation Management and Small Business & Entrepreneurship. Before this I worked at PNO Consultants for 3.5 years. There I was mainly involved in arranging financing for innovative companies.

What character traits do you have that you are most proud of?

I have a down-to-earth character, I'm easy to get along with and I don't get mad easily. I am proud of that because it fits in with my Groningen roots.

What activities or tasks do you get the most satisfaction from?

I like to look behind the scenes at many different companies. In consultancy you come into contact with many different industries, each with their own dynamics. I also get satisfaction from learning new skills, there are many opportunities for that at Orchard.

What is the most interesting thing about you that is not on your CV?

For example, I did not describe on my resume which trips I have made. I have made beautiful trips in Asia, Canada and the US. I'm going to Malaysia next summer, I'm really looking forward to it.

What do you get energy from besides your position as Consultant?

Outside of my job, I like to spend time on sports. I play indoor football, running, swimming and occasionally visit the gym. In addition, I also enjoy meeting friends or going boating on the Amsterdam canals.
