Welcome Daan!

From intern to analyst. In the spring, Daan van Bruggen joined us as an intern. This went so well that he joined us this month as an analyst.
Who are you and what is your background?
Hi! My name is Daan van Bruggen and I am 24 years old. I followed my Bachelor Economics and Business and Master Finance at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam. During my master's I came to do an internship at Orchard in February. Before I came to Orchard, I worked as a student in IT, as a bookkeeper and in the summer I was renting out boats on the canals of Amsterdam!
You started at Orchard as an intern, how did you know you wanted to work at Orchard?
During my internship at Orchard I was able to see and participate a lot. In addition, I was immediately accepted as part of the team and I immediately felt at home because of the open culture and the nice colleagues. As an intern I was involved by everyone in many different projects, which made me want to stay with Orchard for the next step and to develop as much as possible.
Do you notice a difference between being an intern or starting analyst?
The activities as an intern and starting analyst are partly similar, the big difference is that as an analyst I have been given more responsibility. I was more supervised as an intern and had clear tasks.I am more creative as an analyst.
What do you hope to learn in the coming year?
In the coming year I want to develop myself to carry out more independent projects. By experiencing as many assignments as possible and keeping a broad focus, I want to develop myself as well and broadly as possible in the field of Finance.
Which activities or tasks do you get the most satisfaction from?
I get the most satisfaction from the many diverse assignments at different customers with a team approach, with always different, nice colleagues. Switching quickly between these different projects makes the work as an analyst versatile and dynamic.
What is the most interesting thing about you that is not on your CV?
I like any sport from table tennis in the office to basketball or Formula 1, as long as there is a game!
